Paul PamboukianPAUL PAMBOUKIAN
After an initial 5 year training in music at the University of Cape Town and the Guildhall School of Music in London, Paul developed his interest in lighting after working as an ad-hoc assistant stage electrician on the ‘Great Waltz’ in 1977. He then went on to become chief lighting designer for PACT at the State Theatre in Pretoria, and thereafter co-established Production Projects, a lighting and staging company, specializing in product launches, lighting design and sales.
In the nine years with Production Projects, Paul participated in over 500 industrial theatre productions with clients that included BMW, Mercedes Benz, Ford, Toyota, VW, Alfa Romeo, IBM, SAPPI, World Gold Council and shows staged in Paris, Basel, New York, Hawaii, Venice and Berlin.
In 1990, Paul initiated Paul Pamboukian & Associates Lighting Design, a lighting design studio active in the fields of architectural, interior, landscape and theatre lighting design.
To date, over 600 architectural projects have been completed. Paul is a frequent lecturer on lighting design and is a professional member of the Professional Lighting Designer’s Association (PLDA).
